The animated series Voltron appears to now be the subject of a huge bidding war. With everyone tapping into our '80s childhood it's only safe to assume that the rights to the post-apocalyptic tale are highly coveted. Developing the robot-series for the big screen (and 3D)—studios will likely fast-track the project to compete with the similarly-themed Transformers franchise.
At one time Atlas Entertainment planned a full-length feature, but now Relativity Media (responsible for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Zombieland) is in the mix hoping to obtain the rights. Regardless of the direction Voltron takes you can expect something in theaters just in time for the property's 30th anniversary in 2013 or 2014.
